Unfortunately, this winter 2022, I got less than 10 persimmons. I get about 200 every year. Hoping I will get my regular harvest next year.
MY POST FOR NEXT YEAR:
I have many organic Hachiya Persimmons. They have to be eaten very ripe, with a spoon, like a jam. They are DELICIOUS. You can also make jam, cakes, cocktails, put them in a smoothie, dehydrate them, freeze them for future use.
Many people don’t like persimmons because they eat them when they are hard and very astringent. Persimmons have to ripen fully after harvesting from the tree. Unripe persimmons have tannins which are very unpleasant tasting. They need to be a jelly or pudding-like consistency when you eat them. This way they are delicious. A few years ago, I gave a fully ripe persimmon to a friend of mine who thought she didn’t like them and she changed her mind right away!
