Homemade Loquat Jam: Made in small batches to ensure quality and freshness. Loquats are a highly nutritious and delicious fruit. They are available very briefly in the Spring and the fruit is ripe for picking for a maximum of about 2 weeks.
INGREDIENTS: Loquats, Pure Maple Syrup (About half the amount of a regular jam so you can enjoy the delicate loquat taste. NO preservatives, coloring and/or additives), Fresh Lemon Juice, and Cardamom.
** I made a batch with the same 4 ingredients above plus fresh organic ginger added for flavoring, let me know if you would like a 4oz or 8oz of this (MY FAVORITE) batch. **
I make my jam within an hour of picking the fruits, washing with vinegar, and only selecting the absolute best, ripe and flawless fruits. Effectively, only the fruit I'd eat are the ones that become jam.
I've enjoyed loquats yearly for many years and have shared with friends and family a bountiful of them every year. This year I made more jam than I could consume. I canned the jam so they could be stored the cupboard for a year. But I rather have people enjoy them while they are closest to harvest time. ALL batches were freshly made late May and June of 2021.
I'd love to trade or sell the jam to anyone interested. If we are trading we can pick a location in between to make the exchange.
TRADE: I'd love to trade for Papayas, Dates, Leafy Greens, Berries of all kinds, Green Plantains, Bananas or make me an offer. (Note that I am Gluten and Dairy Free).
PURCHASE: 4oz Jam Jar is $5, 8oz Jam Jar is $10.
USES: There are almost an infinite of uses for this yummy Jam. Especially because it's not super sweet so it doesn't drown out other flavors. Here are some suggestions and some of the ways I enjoy the jam:
-Spread on a toast of croissant (pictured), a slice of bread, or pancakes (pictured).
-Drizzle over your favorite Ice Cream as a topping.
-Drizzle over oatmeal, granola or any other cereal.
-Use on recipes that call for peaches or plums, e.g. Caramelized Loquat over chicken or pork.
I hope to hear from you soon and we can trade some of the California goodness in our backyards or a wholesome service you may provide.
