The Galora Story

How the sharing began

Covid has been hard on everyone and this is no time to be wasting fresh food.  But still, we do it every day, and in momentous quantities!

Have you ever noticed the crazy fruit trees all over town that no one is picking? There are MILLIONS in Southern California alone, producing
HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS pounds of amazing organic food that spoils and falls to the ground.

People go to the grocery store to buy the same fruits that are rotting in their neighbor’s backyards!  That is just sad, and something needed to be done.

It all began in May 2020, when Galora founder Ryan found himself with hundreds of pounds of extra figs, lemons, loquats, persimmons, and pomegranates. A few friends received bags of fruit, whether they wanted it or not, but there was still more to pick!

Ryan decided that the world needed an app to do one thing, and one thing only, SHARE!

Since our launch, neighbors have shared a lot more than fruits and we are excited to see what will come next.

Share something and become part of the Galora story!
